By analyzing factors such as insulation, window efficiency, and HVAC system performance, our calculations ensure your home operates at peak efficiency.
Who Needs Them? Homeowners: If you're building a new home, adding to an existing one, or making significant renovations, energy calculations are likely required. Contractors: HVAC contractors, general contractors, and other construction professionals involved in projects requiring permits need to understand and comply with energy calculation requirements. Architects and Engineers: These professionals are responsible for designing and ensuring projects meet energy efficiency standards.
Why are they needed? Permitting: Energy calculations are a requirement for obtaining building permits for new construction and certain renovations. Energy Efficiency: These calculations help ensure that buildings meet minimum energy efficiency standards set by the Florida Energy Code. HVAC Sizing: Energy calculations determine the appropriate size of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for a building.
What are they? Form 405 (Residential Performance Method): This form is used for projects that demonstrate energy efficiency through a performance-based approach. Manual J (Residential Load Calculation): This calculation determines the heating and cooling load requirements of a building. Form 506 (Commercial Performance Method): This form is used for commercial projects that demonstrate energy efficiency through a performance-base approach. Manual N (Commercial Load Calculation): This calculation determines the heating and cooling load requirements of a building.
Exemptions: Projects that do not have air conditioning or heating, or the potential for future air conditioning, may be exempt from energy calculations.
